Room (space) entity properties:

  • identifier
  • room name (often a number, like T2080, but could be something like ‘grand hallway’, ‘atrium’, etc.)
  • descriptive notes
  • primary use/configuration/purpose (general, e.g. lecture, lab, specialized lab, meeting room, corridor, utility, toilet, entrance, gym, etc.; get this value from a list)
  • (collection) other use(s)
  • availability (student, faculty, staff, mixed use, etc.)
  • room “owner” (for booking purposes) (collection? time of day?)
  • (object reference) building name/identifier/object
  • level name
  • level number (relative to the building’s designated ‘main’ entrance, which is level zero ( 0 )
  • height, in levels
  • height, in somethings (feet, metres)
  • size, in square somethings (feet, metres)
  • shape (rounded, sides=3, sides=4 (rectangular), sides=5+ (custom shape)
  • (collection) entrances (which are references that point to other room/spaces)
  • geo location coordinates – near room centre – (lat, long, altitude (in metres))
  • geo location coordinates – at a main entrance – (lat, long, altitude (in metres))
  • designated ‘north’ offset from true north (in degrees, will be plus-or-minus, up to 45) (used to designate or declare the answer to the question “when in the room/space, what direction is north?”)
  • number of seats
  • seating, level/flat or tiered/theatre
  • seating, fixed (not movable), standard, casters/rollers
  • table surfaces, fixed (not movable), configurable
  • podium (no, yes=secure, yes=open)
  • (nearest…) adjoining room/space, north (room number during data accumulation, but then converted to an object reference during the approve/publish process) (does NOT imply that there’s an entrance between these rooms/spaces)
  • (nearest…) adjoining room/space, east
  • (nearest…) adjoining room/space, south
  • (nearest…) adjoining room/space, west
  • publication status (data collected, being edited, published)
  • photo of the room/space

Building entity properties:

  • identifier
  • descriptive notes
  • (collection) rooms
  • (collection) entrances
  • building name
  • building name short form / alias / nickname / aka
  • photo of the building, main/typical view of the front entrance from ground level
  • media type of the photo
  • size, square somethings (feet, metres)
  • number of levels (stories), ground level and above
  • number of levels (stories), below ground level
  • geo location coordinates – near building centre – (lat, long, altitude (in metres))
  • geo location coordinates – near they main/typical/front entrance – (lat, long, altitude (in metres))
  • year completed and in service
  • (object reference) designated ‘main’ entrance
  • URI

Entrance (doorway, portal) entity properties:

  • identifier
  • entrance name (if available, or terms like ‘main’, ‘east door’, etc.)
  • descriptive notes
  • geo location coordinates (lat, long, altitude (in metres))
  • open or with door (or combine this with the next property?)
  • kind of security (open (aka none), latch, key, pushbutton, swipe/sensor, etc.)
  • (object reference) floorplan/map (which will be an image)
  • floorplan/map coordinates
  • (collection) adjoining rooms/spaces

Floorplan/map entity properties:

  • identifier
  • level name
  • level number (relative to the building’s designated ‘main’ entrance, which is level zero ( 0 )
  • image for the floorplan/map
  • media type of the image
  • (object reference) building it belongs to
