Programming assignment introduction. Interactive design session.

.

Welcome back from the study week break

Welcome back.

It’s the second half of the semester. It’s time to start working on a programming assignment!

Come to class prepared to take notes (written or digital).

Also, be prepared to actively participate in an interactive design session.

The in-class discussion will affect the specifications of the programming assignment.

.

Programming assignment introduction

Today, your professors will introduce the programming assignment. Obviously, you will create a web app.

Its theme is current, real-world, and beneficial to School of ICT students and faculty.

The assignment is worth 40% of your final course grade. To ensure that you’re making progress, your work will be inspected and graded twice before the final due date.

Each student must submit their own completed assignment. It is not a partner-based or group-work assignment.

.

Web app features

You will be able to apply all of the topics you have learned to date in the course, plus others that you’ll learn this month.

The web app will include (at least) these features:

  • Interactive web app
  • Persistent store
  • Rich non-trivial design model
  • Authentication and multi-level authorization (security)
  • Data operations
  • Data transformations, incoming and outgoing
  • Work with internet media types
  • Rich text editing
  • Improving the user interface and user experience

.

Specifications documents

On this course web site, your professors will publish a series of specifications document.

During the lifetime of the programming assignment, your professors may modify the specifications to match the pace and achievement.
