Errors, and error-handling introduction for ASP.NET Web Forms apps

There are a number of tactics that you can use to handle errors in your development of ASP.NET Web Forms apps. We’ll introduce them here.

 

A survey of errors and error-handling tactics

In class, we will introduce the following errors and error-handling tactics. Some of them are covered in the code example for today.

Be prepared to learn and take notes, because the content in this post will not be expanded on.

 
Design- and coding-time errors

Run-time (execution) errors, and displaying them

Creating a "testing" web form; using Response.Write(); and/or creating a character-mode/console application

Creating a friendly "error" page for visitors to your web site

Validating input from users (automatic and manual)

Enabling "tracing"

Debugging
