BTI420 programming assignment introduction

We will have a brief discussion about the course’s programming assignment.

The programming assignment is a highlight of the course. Over a number of weeks, you get to implement all of the ASP.NET Web Forms app development concepts that you are learning.

Two options (probably)

In this Winter 2010 semester, you will probably have the choice to do one of two options:

  1. A personal "showcase" web site
  2. A Canada income tax return preparation app

Both options will challenge you, and enable you to have fun. More details will be available within a couple of weeks (around the time we begin to learn about data access technologies).

The project is due no later than 4:00pm ET on Thursday April 1 2010. That’s about 9 weeks (over 2 months) from now.

Personal "showcase" web site

As noted above, more details will be available within a couple of weeks. Until then, here’s a brief description:

As you near the end of your second year of Software Development studies, you have accumulated some good experience with the concepts and skills needed for employment (or self-employment). This web site will "showcase" your knowledge, through a well-featured ASP.NET Web Forms app, and also by enabling the browser user to look at selected work from your other Software Development courses.

Canada income tax return preparation

As noted above, more details will be available within a couple of weeks. Until then, here’s a brief description:

It’s early in a new year, and it’s time to prepare your personal income tax return. This ASP.NET Web Forms app will enable users to securely and accurately complete their personal income tax return.
